Every year from June to August Norfolk needs motivated, professional people with a love for music to fill various positions. To apply, send cover letter, resume and references to norfolk@yale.edu with the subject header “Summer Positions.” Or mail it to: Job Descriptions Administrative Interns assist in the day-to-day operations of the Festival and School, including box office (ticket sales and order fulfillment), marketing and publicity, clerical duties and special projects. Interns assist with artist arrivals, departures, accommodations, and any special needs. They assist with concession operations and concert production duties. They are assigned varied responsibilities at all concerts. Qualifications: Previous arts administration or technical stage and/or recording experience helpful. Interest and/or background in classical music and music education is also helpful. Compensation: Accommodations, meals, and may be eligible for college credit. The Music Librarian is responsible for all activities of the Festival's music and recording library. Responsibilities include purchase and rental of scores and parts, cataloging the Festival's collection, maintenance of card catalogs and lending records, marking bowings, and operation of library's audio equipment. S/he will also produce weekly Fellows' Performance Series printed programs. As Director’s Assistant s/he will assist the Festival Director in preparation of weekly and daily schedules, correspondence, and coordination of receptions and special events. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or three years' related work experience or an equivalent combination. Previous music library experience preferred. Compensation: Salary plus accommodations and meals. The Production Manager is responsible for the preparation and upkeep of all concert halls (Music Shed, Battell Recital Hall and Brookside Studio) as well as for all performances and events. Upkeep and inventory of all concert and rehearsal equipment (chairs, stands, etc.). Stage management and supervision of all performances, master classes and lectures. Load-in, load-out and maintenance of equipment. Assist with concert hall scheduling. Coordinate and oversee stage crew. Assist Recording Engineer when needed. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or three years' work experience or an equivalent combination. Technical stage experience. Familiarity with personal computers. Previous arts administration experience and knowledge of classical music performance a plus. Compensation: Salary plus accommodations and meals. The Recording Engineer is responsible for the professional recording and audio streaming of all concerts and recitals, as well as some dress rehearsals and master classes. Load-in, load-out, and general maintenance of all sound, recording, video, and electronic equipment. S/he also prepares audio masters and copies for broadcast and podcasts, archival use, and study purposes, in addition to duplication of recordings for artists and students. Some video work is also required. Assist Production Manager when needed. The Festival has up-to-date recording equipment including Benchmark and Earthworks mic preamps; Neumann, Sennheiser and DPA/B&K microphones; Microboards duplicators; and DynAudio monitors. The recording studio is Mac-based (OS X Leopard with 23” Display) running the Digidesign Digi 003 Rack with ProTools 7.4.1 software. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree plus one year related work experience or an equivalent combination. Experience recording live classical music at a professional level is required. Experience with video and Internet is helpful. Compensation: Salary plus accommodations and meals.
